The Right Age for Disney

What is one of the most common statements I hear from prospective clients about planning a Walt Disney World or Disneyland vacation?

“I want to wait until my children are older so they will remember it.”

I get it. Disney is a big trip and some people think they will only go once. If that is the case, don’t rule out taking your kids when they are young! So why would you take your kids when they are young versus when they are older and will “remember it?”

When you take young kids, the trip is really for the parents. Speaking from first-hand experience, there is something incredibly magical about watching your child’s reaction to the characters, classic rides such as the “Tea Cups” and “Dumbo”, dancing in bubbles from all the Disney bubble wands, sitting atop your shoulders in awe of the parade, and slurping down their first Dole Whip.

Worried that your child won’t be big enough to participate in many attractions? Not the case! While some of the “big rides” may be off limits, there is more than enough in all four Walt Disney World Parks to keep them entertained for the entirety of your stay! Some of my favorites? Goofy’s Barnstormer and Swiss Family Treehouse in Magic Kingdom, Kidcot Fun Stops in EPCOT, the Kilimanjaro Safari ride and Wilderness Explorer program at Animal Kingdom, and Toy Story Mania in Hollywood Studios.

And if you are looking for ease and simplicity, you may want to check out Disneyland in California! Two parks all within walking distance, you don’t have to fold that stroller(!), and even more rides geared towards younger children (but plenty for the big kids too!). Radiator Springs is my highlight here!

Another great benefit of taking the young ones? Kids 2 and under do not have to pay for a ticket to the parks! So you’re saving money and creating amazing memories at the same time!
